Haslemere Community Land Trust

Your chance to help future generations to afford a house in Haslemere!

We are delighted to report that, following the public meeting organised by Haslemere Vision on June 29th last year a small volunteer steering group has secured funding to enable the formation of the Haslemere Community Land Trust (HCLT) in order to build truly affordable homes for young people and local workers in our area. What is more the group is already in discussion with the owners of a property that, it is hoped, will be the first site for a HCLT project. Commercially built "affordable" housing is barely affordable when first built and reverts to market price as soon as it is sold. A community land trust, which is a not for profit community run organisation, can ensure that the price or rent of the properties it builds remain affordable for future generations.

We are ready to go and are now urgently seeking volunteers with interest and expertise in housing development, company and commercial law, community engagement or fundraising, or who just want to help.
