Update on the Neighbourhood Plan

September 2017

Dear Supporters

We hope you have all had a good summer and we are writing to update you on progress on the Neighbourhood Plan. When, in April 2013, we launched Haslemere Vision we all expected to have completed it well before now! So what has happened?

Well, the main reason that the Neighbourhood Plan has not yet been published is that, as we have worked on it together, we and Haslemere Town Council have agreed that  our Plan will be most effective if it is finalised and published once the eventual detail of the Waverley Local Plan is sufficiently clear. As you will be aware the Local Plan has been subject to continued delay and we have therefore been marking time for some months now though much good work continues on developing our policy proposals.

WBC currently expects that Part 1 of their Local Plan will be approved and adopted in December 2017 and that public consultation on Part 2, which will contain much detail relevant to the Neighbourhood Plan, will take place in April 2018. If that timetable is achieved we believe that we should be in a position to finalise the draft of our plan in the first quarter of 2018 and submit it for a final public consultation in April/May 2018.

We are keen that, before we publish, we re-engage as many of you as possible in considering the objectives and policy proposals that our plan will include. We therefore propose to circulate a draft of the plan by November this year and then invite you to a workshop where we will explain and debate the contents. We will notify you of the date of the workshop in good time and hope that you will be able to join us.

Thank you for your continued support.
